MOHS

What is Mohs Surgery?

Mohs Micrographic Surgery is a highly specialized technique used to treat skin cancer. It offers the highest cure rate (up to 99%) for many types of skin cancer while preserving as much healthy skin as possible.

Originally developed by Dr. Frederic Mohs, this procedure is especially effective for:

Mohs Surgery
  • Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC)
  • Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC)
  • Skin cancers located in sensitive or high-visibility areas like the face, ears, scalp, and hands
  • Recurrent or aggressive tumors

Why Choose Mohs Surgery?

✔️ Highest Cure Rate – Up to 99% for newly diagnosed skin cancers
✔️ Tissue-Sparing – Minimizes scarring and preserves healthy tissue
✔️ Same-Day Results – Cancer removal and lab testing happen on-site, in real time
✔️ Expertise You Can Trust – Performed by fellowship-trained Mohs surgeons

The Mohs Procedure: Step by Step

  1. Local Anesthesia – The area is numbed for comfort.
  2. Tissue Removal – A thin layer of cancerous tissue is removed.
  3. Microscopic Analysis – The tissue is examined in our in-office lab.
  4. Precision Mapping – If cancer cells remain, another targeted layer is removed.
  5. Closure & Healing – Once clear, the wound is closed, often with minimal cosmetic impact.

Patients remain comfortably onsite during the entire process.
